FAQ

Here are listed the answers to some of the most common questions you might have when using EntraPT

EntraPT is not loaded in my browser

EntraPT is supported only on these browsers: Google Chrome™, Safari®, Firefox®, Microsoft Edge®. Read more in the Supported browsers section

I get the message “All the sessions are in use”

When you open a new EntraPT session, some resources (CPU, RAM, space on disk) of our server will be reserved for your session. If many users are using EntraPT at the same time, the available resources may not be sufficient to set up your session. In this case please try to connect to EntraPT later.

If you see this message often, please let us know since this may be a consequence of a malicious attack to our server.

Where can I find the template files to import my data into EntraPT?

Go here to download a zip folder with several template files for specific crystallographic symmetries of the inclusion. In most cases (quartz and zircon as inclusion) you will need the Template_uniaxial_inclusion.dat file. You can open the template file and modify it with any spreadsheet editor. Please save the file keeping the .dat extension, or it will not be accepted by EntraPT.

The app is slow or unresponsive

This might be due to the speed in the connection between your browser and the server. When the internet connection is unstable or slow, the time required for a calculation, to refresh a plot or to display the data becomes longer. In this case the app might seem unresponsive for a few seconds.

I put a number in an input box but that value is not acquired correctly by the app

It may happen that the numbers that you type in the app are actually not read by EntraPT. This is usually a problem of communication between your browser and the server, which might be caused by a slow internet connection.

Press the F5 key on your keyboard to refresh the browser page. This will refresh the app without losing your work. The issue with the input-box should be solved.

Do the check again: type a number in the text box, then double-click again on that box with your mouse. You should see the number that you typed. If the number is reset to the previous value, then it was not acquired correctly.

I get unreasonable results from a calculation

The first thing to check is if EntraPT has acquired correctly the parameters of the calculation that you typed in. See here how to perform this check.

If you still find that the results of the calculation look wrong, the reason might be a bug in the code. Even if EntraPT is regularly and extensively tested and validated by our team, unspotted bugs or inconsistencies might happen in complex codes. In this case, you can help us to fix this problem by sending us a bug report.

However, it you have further comments on this bug we encourage you to contact us specifying the code of the bug report generated by the app. Please give us as many details as you can, especially if you think that the calculation is not correct. This is extremely useful and helps us a lot to improve EntraPT!

When I input manually the range of the axes of a plot, they are not set correctly in the figure

This problem may arise when EntraPT does not acquire correctly the numbers that you type. See here how to fix this problem.

The app is not responding, or I think I found a bug

I cannot upload the *.dat file

The upload might be slow because of the speed of the connection between your browser and the server. If the file is not loaded even after waiting a few minutes, this may be an issue at the browser level. Delete the history of your browser including all the cookies, and load the input file again.

If this does not fix the problem, please send us a bug report.

If you have further comments on this bug, you can contact us, specifying the code of the bug report generated by the app. Please specify in the email any other detail you think might be relevant.

I cannot download the project file or a figure

Check that the security settings of your browser are not preventing the download. Depending on your settings, the file might be downloaded automatically to the default folder of the downloads or to another folder. If you cannot solve the issue, delete the history and all the related data (cookies, settings) and try to download the file again.
